Who is Tamara?

Tamara Choynowski, the owner of NOW PILATES, Geneva CH, was born in the north of Russia, where she was a competitive figure skater, twice champion of the region. She gave up the sport when serious injuries led to chronic back and knees pain. Chronic pain controlled her life until an osteopath recommended the Pilates method, which eventually changed her life.

Fully certified by STOTT PILATES, PMA member, graduate of Pilates Excel Finishing School (Cadaver Laboratory, Bastyr University, Seattle, USA), Core Dynamics (level 3-4 Santa Fe, USA), she continues her education through coursework and workshops with the First Generation Pilates Masters and other industry leaders.  

She never stops learning. Some of the courses she has completed are the following:

  • CR (contract/ release) stretching technique by K. Laughnin (The Cayman islands)
  • Total BARRE (London, UK)
  • HALO training (London, UK)
  • Bosu training (Friburg, CH)
  • YBR (Yamuna body rolling) technique (Paris, France)
  • Massage course on a floating cushion (Zurich, CH)
  • Garuda method (London, UK)
  • CORE Band® Teacher Training Course (Paudex, CH)

In September 2016 she completed the two-year Pilates Master Mentor Program under the mentorship of Lolita San Miguel. Tamara is now designated Second Generation Pilates Teacher and Lolita San Miguel Pilates MasterTM.

Ms. San Miguel is a  First Generation Pilates Teacher as she was certified by J. H. Pilates himself. She is a living Pilates legend and the one of only two living people who can grand the highly coveted title of "Second Generation Pilates Teacher". She was also certified by Carola Trier.

In June 2017 she successfully completed the Legacy Educator Intensive Workshop in Palm Beach, Gardens, US, and she is now eligible to teach the Lolita’s LegacyTM training course! This is a Teacher Training Program that embodies the legacy of the lifelong professional experience in Pilates of Ms. San Miguel and can only be taught by Lolita’s Disciples - the selected few that have completed her 160-hour PMMP and are now Second Generation Pilates Teachers.

In July of the same year, Tamara attended the Kathy Corey CORE Band® Teacher Training Course in Paudex (CH). Kathy Corey is a Master Teacher and has been a leading expert in the Pilates community for nearly 40 years. In 2004, she designed the innovative CORE Band® which is used to perform all of the Pilates Matwork repertoire in studios around the world. At the end of the course she received two certificates:

  • The CORE Band® Certificate, that authorizes her to teach the Official Kathy Corey Pilates CORE Band® Program, and
  • The CORE Band® Certificate for Certifying Teacher and Course Administer, that authorizes her to administrate, train, and certify teachers in the Official Kathy Corey Pilates CORE Band® Program.

Teaching Method

I am a hand-on teacher, my hands help a client to find the exact muscle to work on it.

I always encourage my clients to use all the principles and knowledge of Pilates in everyday life. I keep repeating that "the best Pilates is outside my studio" to keep them aware of their body 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

And of course, the best reward is a pain free body. When clients get rid of their pains, their eyes say it all...
